    Description

    Farm-to-School Programs: Volunteer Assistant

**UPDATE: Currently seeking 2 Monday volunteers and 1 Thursday volunteer for the rest of fall 2026**

Currently seeking outgoing and fun-loving volunteers who love working with children and being outdoors as Baltimore City Schools Field Trip Volunteers to assist with our 2027 Fall field trips on the farm!

Volunteers must commit 1 day per week over a minimum of 2 months to receive training and join our student programs. Come join the fun!

    Dates:

    • New volunteer training: Friday, Sep 4, 9a-1p
    • Volunteer Season: Week of Sep 7 to Dec. 8

Days/Times: Choose 1 day per week: Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, or Fridays, 9a-1p.

Event Overview: In the fall and spring, Baltimore City Schools K–5th-grade students come to our 33-acre outdoor learning laboratory to engage in hands-on, real-world farm-based and culinary experiences. We run additional programs for students of all ages from schools for students with special needs.

Volunteer Roles: As a volunteer, you'll help with field trip set-up and clean up, assist students at activities while our educators teach experiential lessons with our plants and animals and on our trails. You'll engage with the students, have fun answering student questions and guiding conversations with them during lunch, help monitor composting at lunch, and help prep food in our commercial kitchen for student tastings. You'll respectfully and joyfully engage with students and parent/family chaperones from Baltimore City Schools of all racial, language, and socioeconomic backgrounds, and with diverse cognitive and physical abilities.

Call or email us to tell us about yourself and why you're interested, and then we'll set you up for a visit!

Not available to volunteer every week, but still might want to help with an occasional program? Be in touch. We also need volunteers for our in-school programs (weekdays in the winter), and our seasonal summits (occasional weekdays throughout the year).
