    Description

Educate the public about food recovery as a Community Ambassador!

Do you support Food Forward's mission and enjoy talking to people you don't know? You may love being a Community Ambassador!

Why: Food Forward receives many event invitations, and Community Ambassadors (CAs) make it possible to attend and connect with people at those events who want to join our crew of volunteers, fruit donors, financial donors, and general supporters. Joining our Event Leader community also connects you with folks from all walks of life who are passionate about food access, food waste, sustainability, and agriculture. You'll have a regular opportunity to make a big impact, and you'll connect folks to a cause they care about!

Who: Food Forward fights hunger and prevents food waste by rescuing fresh surplus produce, connecting this abundance with people experiencing food insecurity, and inspiring others to do the same.

    What to Expect:

Community Ambassadors are trained volunteers who spread the word about Food Forward at community events and help others get plugged in to our

    mission.

CAs represent Food Forward by setting up tables at community events across Los Angeles and Ventura counties (such as farmers markets, service fairs, environmental events, or local gatherings) and speaking with people who stop by the table about Food Forward's work. This could involve giving them a flyer, directing them to a sign-up sheet, and/or answering basic questions about how they can get involved in our work.

You set your own schedule based on the events Food Forward plans to attend and you can choose from a list of events that Food Forward plans to attend across Los Angeles and/or Ventura counties!

You may need to lift boxes weighing up to 20 pounds, and you'll need a smartphone to send us a photo ofthe information at events.

Food Forward provides liability insurance for the event.

    What's Required:

You must be at least 16 years old to train as a CA, and volunteers 16 - 17 years old must have a parent or legal guardian who trains and volunteers with them.

You can We ask CAs to commit to volunteering at 4 tabling events over the course of a year or less. Of course, if you'd like to volunteer more, we'd be thrilled. Shifts vary from 1 12 - 4 hours, depending on the event.
