    Description

    Canadian Heritage Seeds Initiative

Love gardening? Passionate about sustainability, food security, or storytelling? Join us

in celebrating and preserving Canada’s agricultural heritage!

    Background

The Canadian Heritage Seeds Initiative, led by Edmonton Biosphere Eco-City (EBEC),

is part of a national Biosphere Eco-City (BEC) network that engages communities in

sustainable activities across five cities - Ottawa, Toronto, Brampton, Edmonton, and

Vancouver - and is supported by Biosphere Eco-Cities Canada (BECC). The initiative

invites local gardeners to grow and celebrate heritage crop varieties - plants passed

    down through generations.

These crops aren’t just part of our past - they’re part of our future. Their diversity helps

protect against crop diseases, adapt to climate change, and strengthen food security.

And as a bonus? They often taste better, too.

Help create a public newsletter showcasing results, insights, and flavours

(Optional) Contribute to building a map of participating gardens
