Volunteer Director

Title: Volunteer Director

Department and/or Team: Volunteer Team

Reports to: Executive Director

Works with: The Volunteer Director is responsible for managing, onboarding, and training volunteers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Direct the onboarding/placement and volunteer recruitment for the APPR
• Design and implement a system for tracking volunteer hours and supervise reporting of volunteer data as needed to leadership for marketing, funding, and other purposes
• Send regular updates to APPR leadership team on status of the volunteer program and communicate with directors regarding volunteer needs and feedback on the volunteer program
• Oversee the process of volunteer appreciation events, volunteer spotlight, and otherwise ensure that volunteers are recognized and thanked for their contributions
• Work with other team leadership (Directors & Team Leads) to develop job descriptions and fill open opportunities
• Post open positions on idealist.org and any other beneficial sites
• Assist in sending out email correspondence to current volunteers and those interested in signing up regarding open positions and event volunteer opportunities

CONTACTS WITH OTHERS: APPR Leadership Team, volunteer applicants, outside organizations, APPR supporters.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability to work virtually (phone, email) on a regular basis.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to maintain professional level correspondence at all times.
• Must be a creative thinker and approach the role strategically.
• Must be self-motivated, organized, and consistent with follow through.
• Must have a HS diploma or higher degree of education.
• Must not have conflicting associations with similar non-profit organizations or business(es) related to animal welfare.

Time Commitment: 4-5 hours per week
