    Description

Bring Comfort, Companionship, and Peace of Mind

When caregivers need a short break, hospice patients may receive respite care—a temporary stay in a facility or inpatient setting. During this time, compassionate volunteers play a vital role in providing comfort and connection.

    What You’ll Do

As a Respite Care Volunteer, you will spend time with hospice patients to offer companionship and emotional support. Activities may include:

    • Friendly conversation and social visits
    • Reading aloud (books, poems, devotionals)
    • Playing music or sharing quiet moments
    • Assisting with light activities such as puzzles or games
    • Providing a calming presence for patients who may feel anxious or alone
    • Sitting vigil or providing supportive presence as appropriate

No hands-on clinical care is required.

    Why It Matters

Your presence helps reduce loneliness, brings comfort, and ensures patients feel cared for and supported while their families rest. You give caregivers peace of mind knowing their loved one is not alone.
