    Description

Location: Serving all of Orange County, CA (Garden Grove, Westminster, Huntington Beach, Irvine, Costa Mesa, & surrounding cities)

Role: Volunteer Pet Therapy Team: A Special Mission for a Special Duo

At 24/7 Care at Home Hospice, we know that sometimes the best medicine doesn't come in a bottle—it comes with a cold nose and a wagging tail. We are dedicated to providing the highest quality of life for our patients in Orange County, and we believe that the presence of a therapy animal can provide a level of peace that words simply cannot reach.

We are looking for compassionate volunteers and their certified therapy pets to join our family of caregivers. If you have a heart for service and a pet with a gentle soul, we have a place for you.

    How You’ll Make a Difference

As a Pet Therapy Volunteer, you aren't just "visiting"—you are a vital part of the hospice care plan. You and your pet will:

      • Provide Companionship: Visit patients in their homes or local care facilities to offer comfort and reduce feelings of isolation.
      • Create Moments of Joy: Help patients recall fond memories of their own pets and provide a tactile, calming presence during a difficult time.
      • Support the Family: Your visits often provide a much-needed emotional "breather" for family caregivers.

What You’ll Need to Get Started

      • Certification: You and your pet must be a registered Therapy Team (e.g., Pet Partners, Therapy Dogs International, Alliance of Therapy Dogs, etc.
      • Warmth & Empathy: A desire to provide comfort to patients and families during the end-of-life journey.
      • Commitment: Just a few hours a month can make a lifetime of difference for an OC family.
      • Background Check: Since we visit vulnerable populations, a standard background check, TB test, and volunteer training & orientation are provided

    Why Volunteer with Maxcare?

      • The Ultimate Reward: Experience the profound gratitude of patients and their loved ones.
      • Flexibility: We match you with patients near your home in Orange County and work around your personal schedule.
      • Training & Support: We provide a comprehensive orientation to ensure you feel confident and supported in the hospice environment.

    Ready to Brighten Someone’s Day?

If you and your pet are ready to be the highlight of someone’s week, we would love to meet you. Help us bring the "Care" in 24/7 Care at Home to families across the county.
