    Description

    Company Description

UPAVIM is a women's cooperative in La Esperanza, a marginalized community in Zone 12 of Guatemala City. Over the past 25 years, the organization has grown from a small baby-weighing program to an initiative supporting over 100 local women through the creation and sale of handmade fair-trade crafts. Proceeds are used to pay wages, fund a community health clinic, and support the UPAVIM school, which provides education from daycare to 6th grade. Additionally, UPAVIM operates a library, offers free English classes and tutoring, and runs a bakery and soy factory to provide affordable goods to the community. The organization's mission is to empower women through education, employment, and personal development, aiming to improve their quality of life and that of their families.
