About the organization:

Special Olympics North Carolina provides year-round sports training and competition for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. On November 13–14, we're hosting our 2026 Fall Tournament in Charlotte, one of our largest events of the year, with hundreds of athletes competing.

About the role:

We're looking for Sustainability Champion manager to lead our team members and sustainability efforts at Mallard Creek Park. As a sustainability manager you'll oversee a small team of volunteers as they serve lunch to athletes and families and keep recycling and composting running smoothly. This is a great fit for anyone who enjoys organizing people, cares about reducing waste, and wants to be part of an energizing, joyful event.

Responsibilities:

• Attend a quick virtual meeting before the event
• Set up lunch service, recycling, and compost stations
• Coordinate Sustainability champion volunteers during lunch and throughout your shift
• Help athletes, families, and guests sort waste correctly
• Assist with breakdown at the end of the day

Time commitment:

• Event day(s): November 13 and/or 14, shifts from 10:00 – 2:00 PM
