Description
Keep our spaces safe, functional, and ready to serve. As a Facilities Support Volunteer, you’ll play a hands-on role in maintaining and improving Red Cross buildings—spaces where relief, recovery, and hope begin. Whether you're fixing a leaky faucet or helping with emergency drills, your work ensures our teams and communities have a safe and welcoming place to connect and heal.
This role mainly supports the Corning office, which typically requires only a few hours each month for simple facility checks and minor fixes.
Key Responsibilities
- Keep Facilities Running: Complete maintenance work orders and assist with repairs across regional buildings.
- Spot Issues Early: Conduct regular inspections to identify and report maintenance needs.
- Fix What Matters: Perform basic repairs like painting, plumbing, carpentry, or electrical work based on your skills and training.
- Coordinate with Contractors: Serve as the local contact for service providers and ensure work is completed efficiently.
- Support Transitions: Help with office moves and the setup or closure of Red Cross facilities.
- Stay Prepared: Assist with facility emergency drills and readiness efforts.
- Improve Systems: Work with operations staff to find better ways to manage and maintain our spaces.
What makes you a great fit?
- Hands-On Helper: You enjoy fixing things and keeping spaces safe and functional.
- Organized & Observant: You notice the small details and take pride in maintaining clean, efficient environments.
- Team-Oriented: You work well with others and communicate clearly with staff and contractors.
- Physically Ready: You’re able to lift up to 40 pounds and move comfortably around facilities.
- Mechanically Skilled: You have basic knowledge of tools and repairs—or you're eager to learn.
- Safety-Focused: You understand the importance of following procedures and keeping spaces secure.
- Licensed & Reliable: You have a valid driver’s license or state ID and show up ready to contribute.
