About the Role

Maya’s Hope is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented nurse or medical professional volunteer to support our team by helping review and evaluate applications from families requesting basic assistance for their children.

This role is critical in helping us ensure that limited resources are directed to children with the greatest medical and humanitarian needs. You will work closely with our internal team to assess medical information, documentation, and overall eligibility for support.

Key Responsibilities

• Review medical information submitted by families applying for basic assistance
• Help assess medical need, urgency, and appropriateness of requested support
• Flag missing or unclear medical documentation for follow-up
• Provide high-level medical insight to support decision-making (no direct patient care)
• Collaborate with our program team as questions arise

Qualifications

• Licensed or formerly licensed nurse, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, physician, or allied medical professional
• Experience reviewing medical records, case files, or patient histories
• Strong attention to detail and ability to assess information thoughtfully and objectively
• Compassionate, ethical, and culturally sensitive approach
• Comfortable working remotely and communicating via email or shared documents

What This Role Is Not

• This role does not involve diagnosing patients or providing medical treatment
• This is not an emergency or clinical care position
