Camp Quality USA is seeking a dedicated Psychosocial Coordinator (must be a licensed mental health professional) to serve in a key volunteer leadership role supporting our Kentuckiana camp. This individual plays an essential role in supporting the emotional well-being of campers living with childhood cancer by providing guidance, planning for camper needs, and helping foster a safe and inclusive camp environment.
This is a meaningful opportunity to use your professional expertise in a mission-driven, camp-based setting that brings joy, connection, and support to children and families affected by cancer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide guidance on psychosocial support strategies for campers and volunteers
- Review camper applications for behavioral, emotional, or developmental considerations
- Communicate with families as needed to better understand camper support needs
- Collaborate with camp leadership to proactively plan for a successful camp experience
- Support campers and volunteers during camp with homesickness, behavioral concerns, or emotional challenges
- Help guide volunteers in best practices for supporting campers
- Promote a positive, inclusive, and emotionally safe camp environment
Time Commitment:
- Pre-camp planning & communications (spring)
- Attendance at camp (1 week: May 31-June 5 in Leitchfield, KY)
- Occasional check-ins with camp leadership throughout the year. - this is a one year commitment with annual review & reappointment.
Qualifications:
- Licensed mental health professional (e.g., LCSW, LPC, LMFT, Psychologist, etc.)
- Experience working with children and/or families preferred
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to navigate sensitive situations with professionalism and care
- Experience with trauma-informed care is a plus
