    Description

    DEFEND is a volunteer-run nonprofit dedicated to protecting children and other vulnerable people online. Our mission is to reduce online risks through education and technology to create safer digital spaces.

    About the Podcast:

    "Dark Side of the Web" is a podcast that explores the dangers children and vulnerable people face online through fictional, dramatic, and scripted episodes. The first season is now live on Spotify, Apple/Google Podcasts, and YouTube, with 13 episodes that each run approximately 10 minutes. Season 2 is now in planning, and we’re looking for passionate writers and producers to join the team.

    Role Description:

    As a Podcast Writer/Producer volunteer, you will help craft compelling and impactful episodes for Season 2, collaborating on every stage of production. You’ll work closely with a team to develop stories, write scripts, produce episodes, manage actors, and bring the podcast to life through both audio and visual elements.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Story Creation & Planning: Collaborate on ideas, themes, and episode outlines that highlight online risks.
    • Script Writing & Editing: Write, revise, and polish scripts for episodes, ensuring they are engaging and impactful.
    • Production Management: Assist with casting and coordinating actors, manage recording sessions, and organize production schedules.
    • Audio Editing: Help edit audio tracks, ensuring high-quality sound for the final production.

    Qualifications

    • Must be 18 years or older
    • Experience in writing, scriptwriting, or audio storytelling preferred
    • Basic understanding of audio editing tools and production processes
    • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage project timelines
    • Collaborative and open to feedback; strong team communication skills
    • Passionate about online safety for children and vulnerable groups
    • Commitment to contributing a few hours weekly, with flexibility depending on project phases.
