Volunteers ensure rabbits at Rabbit Rescue Inc. receive excellent daily care and positive social interaction. Tasks include feeding, cleaning living spaces, providing enrichment and exercise time, socializing rabbits (including shy or fearful ones), assisting with grooming, helping with medication after training, setting up and cleaning up for adoption events, doing light laundry, and reporting any health or behavior changes.
No prior rabbit experience is required—training is provided. Ideal volunteers are reliable, comfortable around animals, able to lift up to 20 lbs, communicate well, and can follow rabbit-safe handling protocols. Volunteers may be as young as 12 years old with a parent or guardian present. Volunteers 16+ may volunteer independently. All volunteers under 18 must have parent/guardian permission.
Bonus qualifications include experience with small animals, ability to administer basic medications, comfort with special-needs or shy rabbits, and a willingness to commit at least 2–3 hours per week. Scheduling is flexible, with weekend support especially needed. Benefits include hands-on small animal care experience, learning rabbit behavior and enrichment, earning volunteer hours, helping rabbits find loving homes, and enjoying a calm, therapeutic environment.
