Licensed Attorneys – Pro Bono Legal Counsel & Advisory Board Members

Global Paint for Charity, Inc. (GPC)

    Location: Remote – United States

Position Type: Volunteer / Pro Bono

    Commitment: Flexible, Recurring

Opportunity: Advisory Board – Legal, Governance & International Affairs

    About Global Paint for Charity

Global Paint for Charity (GPC) is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization advancing environmental sustainability, circular-economy solutions, community development, and humanitarian impact through the recovery and responsible redistribution of surplus paint.

Since its founding in 2010, GPC has worked to prevent usable paint from becoming waste while helping underserved communities improve schools, homes, hospitals, orphanages, community centers, and other public spaces in the United States and internationally.

As GPC continues to expand its national and international operations, partnerships, technology, public-policy initiatives, and humanitarian programs, we are seeking accomplished licensed attorneys interested in contributing their expertise through pro bono legal service and/or participation on GPC's Advisory Board.

    The Opportunity

GPC is seeking attorneys who can provide strategic legal guidance to organizational leadership and help strengthen the legal, governance, compliance, and risk-management infrastructure required for a growing nonprofit with domestic and international activities.

This is an opportunity for attorneys who want to use their professional expertise to advance environmental stewardship and humanitarian service while contributing to the institutional development of a mission-driven organization.

Areas Where We Need Legal Expertise

Depending on professional background and availability, volunteer attorneys may advise or assist GPC in one or more areas:

    • Nonprofit & Tax-Exempt Organization Law – 501(c)(3) governance, charitable activities, compliance, policies, and nonprofit best practices.
    • Corporate & Business Law – contracts, corporate governance, organizational structures, commercial relationships, and strategic transactions.
    • Board Governance & Fiduciary Matters – bylaws, board policies, conflicts of interest, fiduciary responsibilities, governance practices, and organizational risk.
    • Environmental & Sustainability Law – environmental compliance, waste-management frameworks, paint recovery and recycling, circular-economy initiatives, and environmental stewardship.
    • International & Cross-Border Matters – international charitable activities, humanitarian shipments, cross-border agreements, customs-related legal considerations, international partnerships, and organizational risk.
    • Contracts & Partnerships – review and development of agreements involving donors, corporations, vendors, logistics providers, nonprofit partners, government entities, universities, and international beneficiaries.
    • Employment & Volunteer Matters – policies and agreements relating to employees, independent contractors, interns, volunteers, and organizational practices.
    • Intellectual Property & Technology – trademarks, copyrights, licensing, digital platforms, data governance, AI-related matters, and technology agreements.
    • Privacy, Cybersecurity & Data Governance – policies and legal considerations surrounding organizational, donor, volunteer, employee, and stakeholder information.
    • Risk Management & Compliance – identifying potential legal exposure and helping GPC establish scalable policies, controls, and compliance practices.

We particularly welcome attorneys with experience spanning multiple areas, including nonprofit, corporate/business, environmental, international, regulatory, employment, intellectual property, and charitable organization law.

    Advisory Board Role

Selected attorneys may also be invited to serve on the Global Paint for Charity Advisory Board, providing strategic insight to the Founder & CEO, organizational leadership, and, where appropriate, the Board of Directors.

Advisory Board participation may include reviewing emerging legal and governance matters, identifying organizational risks, contributing to strategic discussions, recommending appropriate legal resources, and helping GPC strengthen the institutional foundation required for responsible growth.

Advisory Board service is intended to be advisory in nature. Any formal attorney-client representation, engagement as legal counsel, or representation before a court, agency, regulator, or other third party would be separately established where appropriate.

    Qualifications

    Applicants should:

    • Hold a J.D. or equivalent recognized legal degree.
    • Be a licensed attorney in good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
    • Have relevant professional experience in one or more of the legal areas identified above.
    • Demonstrate strong professional judgment, integrity, confidentiality, and ethical standards.
    • Be comfortable working with executive leadership and a diverse group of domestic and international stakeholders.
    • Have an interest in environmental sustainability, nonprofit leadership, humanitarian service, international development, or community impact.
    • Be willing to disclose potential conflicts of interest and comply with applicable professional-responsibility requirements.

Attorneys with previous nonprofit board, general counsel, government, international development, environmental, corporate, regulatory, or humanitarian-sector experience are particularly encouraged to apply.

    Time Commitment

    Flexible and primarily remote.

We recognize that attorneys volunteering their professional expertise often maintain demanding practices. Engagement can therefore be structured around professional availability, organizational needs, and the attorney's area of expertise.

Some matters may involve periodic document review or consultation, while Advisory Board members may participate in strategic meetings and provide guidance on issues within their professional expertise.

    Why Join GPC?

Your legal expertise can help GPC build the governance, compliance, and institutional infrastructure necessary to responsibly scale its environmental and humanitarian work.

This is an opportunity to contribute your legal knowledge to an organization working at the intersection of environmental sustainability, circular economy, humanitarian service, community development, corporate engagement, and international affairs.
