    Description

    Summer Outdoor Visitors work in a one-on-one or small group setting with residents, providing social interaction and conversation outdoors during the summer. The goal of this role is to allow residents to spend quality time outdoors in the warm weather and provide companionship and support while they do.

    Qualifications

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • Patience, understanding, and compassion
    • Ability to transport residents via wheelchair from resident floors to outdoor areas
    • Desire to develop relationships and work with seniors
    • Enjoy spending time outside

    Responsibilities

    • Transport one to two residents from resident floors to outdoor areas (courtyard, deck, or front patio) and back
    • Spend time outdoors with residents one-on-one or in a small group
    • Provide companionship and friendship
    • Plan the date and time of your next visit and notify the Church Home if you are unable to keep the date
    • Facilitate conversation
    • Provide for dignity of residents at all times
    • Report any problems or concerns
    • Maintain confidentiality

    Time Commitment

    • Approximately once a week or once every two weeks for 1 -2 hours
    • Commitment for the length of the summer season
