Justice for Children is a Houston-based nonprofit dedicated to protecting children from abuse and ensuring their families have access to critical legal and support services. Many of the families we serve are in crisis, with limited financial means and urgent needs. Your help will directly support our mission to protect vulnerable children and advocate for justice on their behalf.
Overview
Justice for Children is seeking passionate and attentive Court Watch Volunteers to observe and monitor court proceedings involving child abuse cases. Your presence in the courtroom helps ensure accountability, transparency, and fairness within the judicial process. This role is vital in supporting our ongoing advocacy for the safety and well-being of abused and neglected children.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend child abuse court hearings to observe, document, and report on case proceedings.
- Participate in community outreach and awareness events based on your availability.
- Research and track news stories related to criminal child abuse cases to help identify trends or areas of concern.
- Provide detailed notes and observations to Justice for Children staff for review and potential advocacy action.
Qualifications
- Strong observation, documentation, and communication skills.
- Professional demeanor and ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
- Genuine interest in child advocacy, criminal justice, or social services.
- Must reside in Harris County, Texas, or surrounding counties.
- Flexible availability to attend hearings and events as needed.
