Social Media Manager/Creator for Volunteer Team
Details
Description
We are looking for Social Media Managers / Content Creators to join our Core Team and take an active role in shaping how our organization communicates online. This is not a short-term or task-based volunteer role; it is an ongoing position for individuals who want to contribute consistently and grow within the team.
You will help design and produce content that informs, engages, and mobilizes audiences around environmental, humanitarian, and social issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Content Creation & Publishing
- Plan, create, and publish content across platforms (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube)
- Produce short-form videos, posts, carousels, and stories
- Adapt content to fit each platform’s format and audience behavior
- Contribute to monthly content themes and campaigns
- Translate complex issues into clear, engaging, and actionable content
- Support awareness campaigns aligned with organizational priorities
- Monitor trends and integrate relevant formats (e.g., reels, trends, storytelling formats)
- Ensure content aligns with brand identity and messaging
- Work with other team members (projects, research, design) to gather content ideas
- Participate in internal communication channels and planning discussions
- Support campaigns, events, and initiatives through digital promotion
Qualifications
Required
- Strong interest in social media, content creation, and digital communication
- Alignment with the organization’s mission and values
- Willingness to commit consistently over time (this is not a short-term role)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a remote team
- 18+ years old!
- Basic knowledge of tools (e.g., Canva, CapCut, Adobe tools, scheduling platforms)
Preferred (not mandatory)
- Experience with content creation (video editing, graphic design, copywriting)
- Familiarity with platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube
- Understanding of social media trends and audience engagement strategies
Commitment & Structure
Role Type: Volunteer (Core Member position)
Duration: Ongoing (no fixed end date; long-term involvement expected)
Start: Rolling (no deadline to apply)
Work Style: Remote, flexible, but with consistent contribution
As a Core Member, you are not just contributing content -you are part of the team’s structure and development. This means:
- Active participation in the organization’s operations
- Ownership of responsibilities
- Long-term engagement and growth within the team
What You Gain
- Hands-on experience in social media and content creation
- Opportunity to build a strong portfolio with real campaigns
- Experience working in an international, mission-driven team
- Development of communication, creativity, and digital marketing skills
- A central role in amplifying impact and awareness
This role is designed for individuals who want to:
- Be part of something long-term, not temporary (eg 3 months)
- Take initiative and build systems, not just execute tasks
- Use social media as a tool for impact, not just content output
If you are looking for a short, time-limited volunteering experience, this role is likely not a fit. You could help short-term as a Community Volunteer in about the same responsibilities (as tasks).
If you are looking to become a core part of a growing initiative and contribute meaningfully over time, it is.
