Every year, our school food rescue program 'rescues’ over 15,000 whole food items and diverts them to places in need. We are seeking a few community volunteers (and backups) to help manage the Wakefield School Food Rescue program. There are various ways to help, and it’s flexible. For the program's long-term sustainability, we are seeking support in Program Management and in Food Transportation.
Food Rescue Transport Volunteer (Mileage reimbursement)
Time Commitment: ~1 hour per week or on a need-basis (typically Fridays)
We routinely need support picking up and transporting rescued food to our partner sites such as the Boys & Girls Teen Center or pantries such as Bread of Life or the Grace Everett Pantry.
This role is perfect for someone with a car, a flexible schedule on Friday and a desire to make a direct impact. Mileage reimbursement is available.
