Volunteer Marketing Lead (Compensated Volunteer Position)

Help Build a National Movement for Biodiversity

Do you believe marketing can create meaningful environmental change?

Native Flora Seeds is seeking a Volunteer Marketing Lead to help build awareness, engagement, fundraising support, and national growth for one of the most ambitious biodiversity initiatives in the country.

Our mission is simple: Get Seeds in the Ground.

Through native plants, habitat restoration, community engagement, grants, education, and volunteer leadership, we are working to increase biodiversity across America—one community at a time.

This leadership role is part of our Compensated Volunteer Program and offers the opportunity to help shape the marketing strategy of a growing national nonprofit.

    Compensation

This position is eligible for our Compensated Volunteer Program.

      • Up to $1,000 per month through our Compensated Volunteer Program (based on up to 80 hours per month)
      • Remote position
      • Flexible schedule
      • Work from anywhere in the United States

    About the Role

The Volunteer Marketing Lead will serve as the organization's senior marketing strategist, helping to develop and execute an integrated marketing vision that advances all major Native Flora Seeds initiatives.

This role is responsible for aligning messaging, campaigns, outreach efforts, and brand development across the organization's Online Store, Grants Program, Fundraising Program, and Community Advocate Program. The Marketing Lead will work collaboratively with organizational leadership, fundraising volunteers, social media volunteers, and technical resources to ensure all marketing activities support a unified strategy and measurable outcomes.

The ideal candidate enjoys building programs, developing long-term marketing strategies, mentoring volunteers, and creating systems that can scale nationally.

    Leadership Responsibilities

      • Develop annual marketing goals and strategic priorities
      • Establish marketing metrics and performance reporting
      • Coordinate marketing activities across multiple volunteer teams
      • Help guide brand positioning and messaging
      • Identify opportunities for strategic partnerships and collaborations
      • Recommend new products, services, and initiatives that support organizational growth
      • Help establish Native Flora Seeds as a recognized national leader in biodiversity restoration and native plant education

    Key Areas of Responsibility

    Online Store Marketing

Our online store provides native plant seeds and habitat-building resources that directly support our mission.

    Responsibilities include:

      • Developing paid and organic marketing campaigns
      • Improving customer acquisition and retention
      • Identifying opportunities for new products and services
      • Supporting SEO, content marketing, email marketing, and social media efforts
      • Working with our Webmaster and Social Media team
      • Measuring and improving campaign performance

    Grants Program Marketing

Native Flora Seeds provides grants to nonprofit organizations, conservation groups, schools, and community organizations to establish native plant habitats.

    Responsibilities include:

      • Building awareness of grant opportunities
      • Creating outreach campaigns targeting eligible organizations
      • Supporting application recruitment efforts
      • Promoting successful grant-funded projects
      • Helping tell the stories and environmental impact created by funded projects

    Fundraising Marketing

Fundraising is critical to expanding our impact and increasing the amount of habitat we can create.

    Responsibilities include:

      • Working alongside our fundraising team
      • Developing donor-focused marketing campaigns
      • Creating storytelling and impact-based communications
      • Supporting annual fundraising initiatives
      • Helping communicate the value and impact of donor contributions
      • Assisting with donor engagement and retention strategies

    Community Advocate Program Marketing

This is our flagship national initiative.

The Community Advocate Program identifies and trains local volunteers to become biodiversity champions in their communities. Community Advocates receive access to an online portal containing a toolkit of activities that help promote native plants, create habitat, educate residents, engage local organizations, and generate measurable environmental impact.

    Responsibilities include:

      • Building national awareness of the program
      • Developing Community Advocate recruitment campaigns
      • Creating messaging that inspires local action
      • Supporting volunteer engagement and growth
      • Helping position the program as a leading community-based conservation initiative
      • Promoting success stories from advocates across the country

    Qualifications

Ideal candidates may have experience in:

      • Marketing leadership
      • Digital marketing
      • Brand development
      • Fundraising marketing
      • Nonprofit marketing
      • Content strategy
      • Campaign management
      • Social media marketing
      • Email marketing
      • Public relations
      • Volunteer management

Most importantly, we are seeking someone who:

      • Believes in the importance of biodiversity and habitat restoration
      • Thinks strategically and creatively
      • Enjoys building programs and systems
      • Can lead projects and coordinate volunteers
      • Is comfortable working in a growing nonprofit environment
      • Wants to help create lasting environmental impact

    Why This Opportunity Is Unique

Unlike many volunteer marketing positions that focus on a single campaign or program, this role offers the opportunity to help shape the future of an emerging national nonprofit organization.

The successful candidate will influence marketing strategy across fundraising, conservation grants, volunteer recruitment, education, online sales, and community engagement initiatives. As our programs expand across the country, the Marketing Lead will play a key role in helping Native Flora Seeds build a national movement focused on restoring habitat, increasing biodiversity, and putting more native plants in the ground.

    Why This Role Matters

America continues to lose habitat at an alarming rate. Native plants are one of the most effective tools available to restore biodiversity and support pollinators, birds, wildlife, and healthy ecosystems.

By helping grow Native Flora Seeds, you will help expand grants, recruit community advocates, increase awareness, support fundraising, and ultimately put more native plants in the ground across the country.

Our long-term vision is to empower communities nationwide to restore habitat where they live, work, learn, and play. Through local action and national coordination, we believe communities can become a powerful force for biodiversity restoration.

This is an opportunity to help build a national movement that empowers communities to restore habitat, strengthen ecosystems, and create a more biodiverse future.
