    Description

    Activities Leader at Partner Facilities

Do you enjoy bringing people together, sparking creativity, or simply brightening someone’s day?

Sanctuary Hospice is seeking a warm, dependable volunteer to lead activities at our partner facilities and help create meaningful moments for those we serve.

As an Activities Leader, you’ll plan and facilitate engaging activities—such as games, crafts, music, conversation, or light group programs—based on your interests and the needs of each facility. You’ll work primarily with senior citizens, some of whom may be differently abled. Your compassion, patience, and flexibility will help ensure everyone feels included, supported, and valued.

    What you’ll do:

    • Lead or assist with group and/or one-on-one activities
    • Engage participants with kindness, creativity, and empathy
    • Collaborate with facility staff to foster a positive, welcoming environment

    Who we’re looking for:

    • Friendly, compassionate individuals who enjoy connecting with others
    • Comfort working with seniors with a wide range of abilities
    • Reliable, open-minded, and willing to learn (training provided)

    Why volunteer with us?

    • Make a meaningful impact in your community
    • Share your talents and interests in a rewarding way
    • Gain valuable experience while building genuine connections

    Time Commitment & Location

    • Approximately 4–6 hours per month, including leading two activities at partner facilities
    • Opportunities available throughout the Chicagoland area

    What We Provide:

    • Free training and ongoing program support
    • The opportunity to help build and lead a meaningful program from the ground up
    • Ongoing guidance and support from our hospice team

    Volunteer Requirements:

    • Volunteers must complete a volunteer application, online training, a background check, TB test, and drug screening (all provided at no cost).

If you’re interested in helping create moments of joy and connection, we’d love to hear from you!
