    Description

    OYC Miami is seeking volunteers to support high school juniors and seniors at William H. Turner Technical Arts High School with ACT and SAT preparation.

    Volunteers will work with students during their lunch period to help them strengthen test-taking strategies, review key academic concepts, practice sample questions, and build confidence as they prepare for upcoming ACT and SAT exams.

    This is a great opportunity for educators, college students, professionals, tutors, or community members who are comfortable supporting high school students in areas such as math, reading, English, or standardized test preparation.

    Instructions:

    Volunteer Responsibilities:

    • Support juniors and seniors with ACT/SAT preparation
    • Review practice questions and test-taking strategies
    • Provide academic support in math, reading, English, and/or related subjects
    • Encourage students and help build confidence
    • Maintain a positive, professional, and student-centered environment

    Ideal Volunteer:

    • Comfortable working with high school students
    • Familiar with ACT/SAT content or standardized testing
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • Patient, encouraging, and dependable
    • Teaching or tutoring experience is helpful but not required

    Requirements:

    All volunteers must complete OYC Miami’s required volunteer application and compliance process before participating.

    Schedule:

    Monday–Friday

    Approximately 10:20 AM–11:10 AM

    Sessions will take place during the students’ lunch period.

    We are currently looking at offering this opportunity during the week of October 12, but additional dates may be available based on volunteer interest and availability.
