    Description

    Clerical Assistant

    This is a volunteer opportunity, not a paid position.

    Lakeland Volunteers in Medicine (LVIM) needs clerical assistant volunteers for their Prescription Assistance Program. Clerical assistants will create and complete applications for prescriptions per the guidelines established by the pharmaceutical company, fax or mail the applications, contact patients, monitor the application status and shipments. Additionally clerical assistants will create and update patient charts, verify eligibility, and process the information through 2 electronic health record systems.

    A volunteer for this opportunity must have basic computer skills, accurate data entry skills, appropriate telephone etiquette, strong customer service and communication skills, and be detail oriented and organized. This opportunity does involve excessive sitting. LVIM is asking for a commitment of 6 months with a minimum of one shift per week either 8am-12pm or 12pm-4pm on any day Monday through Friday.

    Clinical Assistant

    Lakeland Volunteers in Medicine (LVIM) is looking for clinical assistant volunteers to provide physician support services in the clinical area through help with vitals, documentation, and room preparation before and after patient use. A clinical assistant volunteer would record blood pressure, temperature, respiration, height and weight. Additionally, this volunteer would help in documenting the reason for the visit and verifying important data in the patient's electronic record. Room preparation includes disposal of contaminated supplies, sterilization of tools used, and restocking used equipment or supplies.

    An LVIM Clinical Assistant Volunteer must have the ability to communicate in a professional and courteous manner with tact and empathy, should be detail oriented and prove to be well organized, and complete LVIM's Biomedical Waste Training Module. A medical background or schooling/training is preferred but not required. This position does involve excessive standing and walking time. LVIM is asking for a commitment of 3 months with a minimum of one shift per week either 8am-12pm or 12pm-4pm on any day Monday through Friday.

    Curbside Check-in

    Lakeland Volunteers in Medicine (LVIM) is seeking volunteers to complete curbside check-in. Curbside Check-in Greeters welcome and screen any patients needing care for anything related to Covid-19. This will involve taking temperatures, distributing hand sanitizer, ensuring masks are worn properly in the clinic and when interacting with staff/volunteers, and asking standard screening questions. Other duties include handing out patient forms, verifying scheduled appointments upon arrival, receiving incoming packages, and providing directions and general information related to LVIM.

    The ideal candidate is self-motivated, possesses strong customer service skills, adapts well to a fast-paced changing environment, performs well under pressure, and effectively communicates with people in a courteous and tactful manner. This position does involve excessive standing and walking time. LVIM is asking for a commitment of 1 month with a minimum of one shift per week either 8am-12pm or 12pm-4pm on any day Monday through Friday.

    Food Pantry Assistant

    Lakeland Volunteers in Medicine (LVIM) needs volunteers to assist with their mobile food pantry. Volunteers will help set up food distribution and car registration areas, register food pantry participants, verify eligibility, assist with unpacking and sorting donated goods, packing food boxes, working collaboratively to load the food into client's cars, and clean and put away food tables and event signs.

    LVIM's food pantry volunteers are self-motivated, are flexible in the workflow, work as a team, and communicate effectively with all walks of life. This position does involve excessive standing and walking time with occasional or continuous bending and lifting depending on which part the volunteer is working in. Volunteers may be under the minimum age if a parent/guardian is present.

    Intake Screener

    Lakeland Volunteers in Medicine (LVIM) is in need of a volunteer Intake Screener. Intake Screeners will interview prospective patients for eligibility of services. A checklist is provided for qualifications and documentation established by the Florida Department of Health. Intake Screener volunteers must be able to explain the required documentation based on the list given. Interviews will be a mix between in-person and via phone.

    Intake Screeners have strong communication and listening skills, are detail oriented and organize, have a high degree of patience and compassion, can work independently, and have basic computer proficiency. The pace of workflow changes throughout the day so a volunteer in this position will need to be flexible and adapt as needed. Intake Screeners will be required to complete the Florida Department of Health training module. This position does involve excessive sitting time. LVIM is asking for a commitment of 6 months with a minimum of one shift per week either 8am-12pm or 12pm-4pm on any day Monday through Friday.

    Lab Assistant

    Lakeland Volunteers in Medicine (LVIM) is looking for lab assistant volunteers for their clinic. Lab assistants will complete administrative and clinical tasks including organizing and managing the sampling, testing, recording, analyzing of necessary medical tests. The LVIM lab works as a team so findings will be shared between lab staff for conclusive results. Specific tasks include entering requested labs and generating labels for the phlebotomist, calling patients from the lobby and escorting them to the lab, instructing patients on the requirements of the process, performing in-house testing, properly documenting results, helping with administrative tasks as needed, and maintaining the lab cleanliness, orderliness, and supplies.

    LVIM Lab Assistants are detail oriented and very organized. A volunteer in this position has accurate data entry skills and communicates in a professional and courteous manner with tact and empathy. Completion of LVIM's Biomedical Waste Training Module is required. A medical background or schooling/training is preferred but not required. This position does involve excessive standing and walking time.     Medical Records Assistant

    Lakeland Volunteers in Medicine (LVIM) is seeking medical records volunteers. Medical records volunteers will manage patient charts in the computer for new and existing patients. Additionally, a volunteer in this position will review and organize paperwork for categorization and eligibility requirements, scan and file patient paperwork, distribute patient documents to the appropriate areas, assist patients in completing patient authorization for release of records, and handle phone messages.

    Medical records volunteers possess analytical thinking skills, accurate data entry skills, and proficiency in computer and phone use. Being detail oriented and organized is a must and volunteers must be comfortable working independently. Knowledge of medical terminology and experience with Intergy are helpful but not required. This position does involve excessive sitting time. LVIM is asking for a commitment of 3 months with a minimum of one shift per week either 8am-12pm or 12pm-4pm on any day Monday through Friday.

    Overflow Scheduler

    Lakeland Volunteers in Medicine (LVIM) is in need of an Operator Scheduler volunteer. Operator Schedulers back up the front desk schedulers by taking overflow scheduling calls and coordinating with professionals about schedules, patients, and necessary changes. During phone calls volunteers will schedule, reschedule, and cancel appointments or put patients on waiting lists. Operator Schedulers may also answer questions while on the phone regarding general information. This opportunity is strictly via a phone and have no physical contact with patients.

    LVIM Operator Schedulers perform well under pressure when call volumes are high, are great at multitasking, and have effective communication and listening skills. This position does involve excessive sitting time. LVIM is asking for a commitment of 6 months with a minimum of one shift per week either 8am-12pm or 12pm-4pm on any day Monday through Friday.

    Patient Escort

    Lakeland Volunteers in Medicine (LVIM) is looking for someone to direct patients through the check-in process when they arrive and escort them to the different appropriate patient areas. Additional tasks may include retrieving and delivering patient paperwork to the necessary departments, deliver messages between staff, and assist in completing paperwork or making copies.

    Patient escorts give strong customer service and communication skills, are able to adapt between the changing workflow pace, interact effectively with people in a courteous and tactful manner, and have basic computer/technology skills with a willingness to learn relevant office equipment. This position does involve excessive standing and walking time. LVIM is asking for a commitment of 1 month with a minimum of one shift per week either 8am-12pm or 12pm-4pm on any day Monday through Friday.

    Prescription Desk Attendant

    Lakeland Volunteers in Medicine (LVIM) is seeking a volunteer to help at their prescription information desk. This volunteer will contact patients regarding scheduled appointments and filled prescriptions via phone. Patients will come to the office to retrieve their prescriptions from the volunteer.

    A volunteer in this position must use proper phone etiquette and communication skills while providing strong customer service. This opportunity does involve sitting, walking, and bending as needed. LVIM is asking for a commitment of 3 months with a minimum of one shift per week either 8am-12pm or 12pm-4pm on any day Monday through Friday.

    Prescription Processor

    This is a volunteer opportunity, not a paid position.

    This volunteer opportunity is NOT eligible for court-ordered service.

    Lakeland Volunteers in Medicine (LVIM) needs prescription processor volunteers for their Prescription Assistance Program. Prescription processors will document the medication upon its arrival and separate and label them. Bags will need to be labeled with the patient's demographics and filled with the designated prescription. These bags will then be placed in the pharmacy in a designated area to be checked. When the prescription is ready the processor will contact the patient to arrange pick-up.

    Prescription processor volunteers possess the ability to work independently, provide strong communication and listening skills, have proper phone etiquette, and be detail oriented. This opportunity does involve excessive sitting. LVIM is asking for a commitment of 6 months with a minimum of one shift per week either 8am-12pm or 12pm-4pm on any day Monday through Friday.

    Receptionist

    Lakeland Volunteers in Medicine (LVIM) is looking for a receptionist volunteer for the front desk. This volunteer will perform basic clerical and customer service tasks such as welcoming arriving patients, checking them in, receiving and making phone calls, delivering messages, and verifying patient information. Additionally, this volunteer may answer general questions from patients or about paperwork needed.

    LVIM receptionists have a friendly and compassionate disposition, excellent interpersonal communication skills, performs well under pressure during peak times, and can adapt to the change in workflow. Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred but not required. This opportunity does involve excessive sitting. LVIM is asking for a commitment of 6 months with a minimum of one shift per week either 8am-12pm or 12pm-4pm on any day Monday through Friday.

    Scheduling Assistant

    Lakeland Volunteers in Medicine (LVIM) needs patient scheduler volunteers to assist with the check-out process and scheduling the next appointment. This volunteer will also create and edit appointments over the phone. A software will be utilized to ensure appointments are made according to specific provider preferences and system specifications.

    The LVIM patient schedulers possess customer service skills, excellent communication skills in both speaking and listening, can stay focused in busy environments, and perform well under pressure when the office is busy. Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred but not required. This opportunity does involve excessive sitting. LVIM is asking for a commitment of 6 months with a minimum of one shift per week either 8am-12pm or 12pm-4pm on any day Monday through Friday.

    Triage Nurse

    Lakeland Volunteers in Medicine (LVIM) is looking for a triage nurse holding a minimum of an Associate's Degree of Nursing (ADN) to take a thorough assessment of patients. This would include a comprehensive focused health summary of the chief complaint, history of the present illness, past medical history, family history, and social history. The triage nurse will review patients' charts, update and notate charts as needed, summarize the details of the patient interview for medical staff, perform follow-ups, and schedule appointments and testing needed.

    A volunteer in this position has strong assessment and clinical skills, critical thinking skills, superior verbal and listening skills, and the ability to type and track information during the phone call. Significant experience with direct patient care is required. This opportunity does involve excessive sitting. LVIM is asking for a commitment of 3 months with a minimum of one shift per week either 8am-12pm or 12pm-4pm on any day Monday through Friday.
