    Position Overview

    The Web Accessibility Manager is responsible for ensuring the organization’s digital platforms are accessible, inclusive, and aligned with recognized accessibility standards.

    This role leads accessibility strategy, conducts audits, and implements improvements across websites and digital content to ensure usability for individuals of all abilities.

    Operating at the intersection of accessibility compliance, user experience, and web development, this role is critical to ensuring equitable access to digital resources and supporting inclusive engagement.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Accessibility Strategy & Leadership
      • Define and lead accessibility strategy across digital platforms
      • Establish accessibility standards and expectations
      • Align accessibility efforts with organizational goals
    1. Accessibility Audits & Assessments
      • Conduct audits of websites and digital content
      • Identify accessibility gaps and issues
      • Prioritize remediation efforts
    1. Compliance & Standards
      • Ensure alignment with accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG)
      • Support compliance with applicable guidelines and best practices
      • Monitor ongoing adherence
    1. Remediation & Implementation
      • Lead or support implementation of accessibility improvements
      • Work with developers and designers to resolve issues
      • Ensure fixes are effective and sustainable
    1. Collaboration with Development & Design
      • Partner with:
      • Developers
      • UX/UI designers
      • Content teams
      • Ensure accessibility is integrated into workflows
    1. Testing & Validation
      • Conduct accessibility testing using:
      • Manual testing
      • Automated tools
      • Validate fixes and improvements
    1. Documentation & Guidelines
      • Develop and maintain:
      • Accessibility guidelines
      • Best practices documentation
      • Ensure consistency across platforms
    1. Training & Awareness
      • Provide guidance to teams on accessibility practices
      • Promote awareness of inclusive design
      • Support adoption across the organization
    1. Monitoring & Continuous Improvement
      • Track accessibility performance over time
      • Identify new risks or gaps
      • Improve processes and standards
    1. Reporting & Visibility
      • Provide updates on accessibility status
      • Communicate risks, progress, and improvements
      • Support leadership decision-making
    1. Cross-Functional Alignment
      • Work across:
      • Technology
      • Marketing
      • Content teams
      • Ensure accessibility is consistently applied
    1. Continuous Improvement
      • Stay current with accessibility trends and standards
      • Improve accessibility processes and workflows
      • Strengthen overall digital inclusivity

    Volunteer Commitment Expectations

      • Estimated Commitment: 10-15 hours per week
      • Flexible schedule
      • Participation in technology and cross-functional meetings required
      • Fully remote

    Minimum Qualifications

      • 3–5 years of experience in:
      • Web accessibility
      • UX/UI or web development with accessibility focus
      • Strong understanding of:
      • WCAG guidelines
      • Accessibility testing and remediation

    Preferred Qualifications

      • Experience with:
      • Accessibility testing tools (e.g., WAVE, Axe)
      • HTML, CSS, and web development practices
      • Experience in nonprofit or mission-driven organizations
      • Experience in remote teams
