    Description

Board of Directors - McKoy Dance Project

McKoy Dance Project (MDP) is a boundary-breaking contemporary dance company dedicated to increasing access in the arts and amplifying the voices of BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities. Through powerful, story-driven dance works and community-centered programs, MDP challenges tradition while celebrating identity, resilience, and creative expression. Founded in New York City in 2019, MDP presents performances, artist development initiatives, and education programs that connect dance with community impact. As the organization continues to grow, we are expanding our presence in New York City, Miami, and internationally in London, building a global platform that redefines who dance is for, how it is made, and where it lives.

To support this next phase of growth, we are seeking new members to join our Board of Directors and help shape the future of McKoy Dance Project.

Board Member Role: What We’re Looking For

MDP is building a mission-aligned working board of visionary and passionate leaders who are excited to support the long-term growth of the organization. Board members contribute through a combination of strategic insight, advocacy, and network-building.

We are particularly seeking individuals who can offer:

    • Strategic Insight - Guidance and perspective as the organization expands its programs and geographic reach.
    • Fundraising Leadership - Connections, advocacy, and/or direct financial contributions that help strengthen MDP’s sustainability.
    • Community Connection - Relationships within cultural, philanthropic, or local communities that can help grow awareness and partnerships.
    • Creative and Mission Alignment - A genuine passion for arts innovation, inclusion, and expanding access to dance.

Professional backgrounds that are especially valuable include:

    • Development and fundraising
    • Finance and accounting
    • Law
    • Marketing and communications
    • Nonprofit leadership
    • Arts administration
    • Philanthropy
    • Community development

However, individuals who believe deeply in our mission and bring unique perspectives are encouraged to apply.

    Board Commitments:

    • Term Length - Three-year term, renewable up to three terms or until a suitable successor is identified.
    • Meetings - Quarterly board meetings (virtual or hybrid), with optional participation in board committees.
    • Annual Give/Get - Board members are expected to support MDP through a meaningful personal contribution and/or fundraising efforts within their networks.
    • Advocacy - Serve as a visible champion of McKoy Dance Project within your community and professional circles.
