Make a lasting difference by becoming a patient direct volunteer. In this role, you’ll provide companionship and emotional support to patients receiving hospice care, often in their homes or in long-term care facilities. Your time can help ease loneliness, bring joy, and support families during a very meaningful time.
What You’ll Do:
- Visit patients regularly to talk, read aloud, play games, write letters, or simply be present
- Provide respite for family caregivers so they can rest, run errands, or take a break
- Offer compassionate listening and companionship to patients nearing end of life
Requirements:
- Compassionate, dependable, and comfortable spending time with patients
- Ability to listen well and provide support without judgement
- Completion of hospice volunteer orientation, background check, training, and TB screening
- Must be at least 18 years of age
