Our volunteers are at the heart of our mission, and we are seeking a Volunteer IT Support Specialist to help maintain and strengthen the technology systems that support our growing community.

    Position Overview

The IT Support Specialist plays an important role in supporting MSU’s network platforms and technology tools. This volunteer will help ensure that our volunteers, leadership team, and board members have secure and effective access to the systems that power our programs.

Using Microsoft 365 for Nonprofits, the IT Support Specialist will:

    • Assist with onboarding new volunteers, employees, and guest accounts, including system access and setup
    • Support the administration and security of MSU’s technology platforms
    • Help monitor and improve security practices to protect organizational data
    • Create and maintain databases, data structures, and documentation to support efficient data management
    • Prepare and update digital forms and templates used for data submissions (JotForm, Microsoft Forms, Adobe, etc.)
    • Provide technical guidance and training on best practices such as email security and safe computing
    • Collaborate with leadership and board members to ensure technology supports organizational needs
    • Identify and recommend technology tools that could benefit the organization
    • Adapt to the evolving technology needs of a growing nonprofit organization

This role may also provide limited administrative technical support for the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors.

    Qualifications

    Preferred qualifications include:

    • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or 3+ years of relevant IT experience
    • Strong understanding of computer hardware, software troubleshooting, and user support
    • Experience with Microsoft 365 (especially for Nonprofits)
    • Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical users
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Strong organizational and time management skills
    • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a virtual team environment

Experience with the following platforms is a plus:

    • Opportunity to develop and expand your technical skills
    • Work with a supportive and collaborative volunteer team
    • Make a meaningful difference in the lives of people living with Myositis
