    Description

Become a Reading Partner – Volunteer to Tutor Elementary Students in Reading

Reading Partners connects community volunteers with elementary students to help ensure that all children have the reading skills and confidence they need to thrive in school and beyond.

As a volunteer literacy tutor, you’ll dedicate just over an hour a week to work one-on-one with a student, helping them strengthen their reading comprehension, fluency, and overall confidence.

No teaching experience is required. Reading Partners provides a structured, easy-to-follow curriculum, comprehensive training, and ongoing support to help you feel prepared and effective. You can volunteer in person at a local partner school or online through our virtual tutoring platform, with flexible times that fit your schedule.

Here’s what you need to know:

    • Tutoring sessions take place Monday–Thursday during school hours, with some afterschool options (8 am–5 pm).
    • Tutors commit to a little over an hour per week, on the same day and time each week, for at least one semester (a full school year preferred).
    • Tutors work one-on-one with a student in kindergarten through fourth grade.
    • Online tutoring availability varies by location.

Volunteering with Reading Partners is an accessible and rewarding way to support education in your community. You’ll join a network of dedicated volunteers helping students discover the joy and power of reading.
