    Description

    About

GeneralGiist is a global discussion forum built for real conversations, diverse interests, and authentic connections. We want to create a place where people can visit, stay, share their opinions, connect with others, be heard, and have fun.

As we build our early community, we are putting together a Founding Community Growth Team to help attract new members, encourage participation, start interesting conversations, and make GeneralGiist an active and welcoming place.

We are looking for a motivated Recruitment Support Volunteer to help us find and organize the people who will contribute to this mission.

    About the Opportunity

As our Recruitment Support Volunteer, you will work with the founder to support the recruitment and onboarding of volunteers for GeneralGiist's Founding Community Growth Team.

This is an opportunity for someone interested in recruitment, virtual assistance, community building, talent sourcing, or startup operations to gain practical experience supporting an early-stage online platform.

You do not need to be an experienced recruiter to apply. We welcome organized, reliable individuals who communicate well, take initiative, and are willing to learn.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Candidate sourcing: Help identify and reach out to suitable candidates through relevant online communities, professional networks, and volunteer platforms.
    • Application management: Record applications and maintain an organized database of candidates.
    • Candidate communication: Assist with sending application acknowledgments, follow-up messages, reminders, and approved recruitment updates.
    • Application screening: Review applications against established criteria and prepare brief summaries of candidates' strengths, experience, and suitability.
    • Recruitment coordination: Track applicants through the recruitment process and identify outstanding tasks or incomplete application steps.
    • Onboarding support: Help successful candidates complete their initial setup, receive relevant information, and get started with their assigned responsibilities.
    • Progress reporting: Prepare simple weekly updates covering applications received, candidates contacted, recruitment progress, and outstanding actions.
    • Process improvement: Suggest practical ways to make recruitment more organized and effective.

    What We're Looking For

    • Good written communication and organizational skills.
    • Reliability and the ability to follow through on assigned tasks.
    • Basic familiarity with email, Google Sheets, and Google Forms.
    • Willingness to communicate professionally with candidates from different backgrounds.
    • Attention to detail when handling applications and recruitment records.
    • Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
    • An interest in community building, recruitment, virtual assistance, or startup operations.

Previous experience in recruitment, administration, human resources, or virtual assistance is an advantage, but it is not mandatory.

    What You Can Gain

    • Practical experience supporting recruitment and onboarding for an early-stage online platform.
    • Exposure to startup operations, talent sourcing, and remote team coordination.
    • Opportunities to develop communication, organizational, and candidate-management skills.
    • The opportunity to contribute ideas and help establish recruitment processes as GeneralGiist grows.
    • Collaboration with a founder building a global discussion community from the ground up.

    Time Commitment and Working Arrangement

This is a remote, flexible, part-time volunteer opportunity. The specific weekly commitment and responsibilities will be discussed and agreed upon with the selected volunteer.

This is currently an unpaid volunteer position. GeneralGiist is at an early stage and cannot guarantee financial compensation, future employment, or equity. Any future compensation or equity arrangement would require a separate, explicit agreement.

    How to Apply

If you are organized, proactive, and interested in helping build a founding team, we would love to hear from you.

Please apply through Idealist and briefly explain:

    1. Why you are interested in supporting GeneralGiist.
    2. Any relevant experience in virtual assistance, recruitment, administration, or community building.
    3. Which tools you have used to organize applications, manage records, or communicate with candidates.
    4. Your general availability and the number of hours you could contribute each week.

We welcome applicants from different countries and backgrounds who are comfortable working remotely with an international team.
