Volunteers at Parkwood Farms experience the satisfaction of knowing that they have made a difference in another persons life.
We act as side walkers, horse leaders, and assistants for riders / participants with various disabilities or conditions, while they receive much needed equine related therapies.
We also help out with the grooming and exercising of the horses, keeping the tack neat and Clean, as well as, fulfilling the general maintenance duties of the barn, arenas and grounds.
No experience is necessary. We train you as needed during a mandatory orientation where you will learn hands-on while working with riders in an actual session.
The only requirements are that you like to help others, are dependable and responsible, and have a positive attitude.
It is truly gratifying to see the progress each individual is making in their therapies. And, if not for our volunteers, these people would be denied the opportunity to experience the benefits that can improve their Quality of Life. A desire to give back and help someone else is what drives our volunteers. What a great group we have!
As little as 1 hour of your time can change a riders life...and maybe your own!
Sessions are Tuesday and Thursday from 2:30 to 6:30 PM, Sunday 7:30 - noon.
