Description
The Secretary is the organizational memory of the board. This role ensures that our decisions, conversations, and commitments are captured clearly and that YBF stays on track with its governance responsibilities. It's a behind-the-scenes role with real impact on how the organization runs.
WHAT THIS ROLE INVOLVES
- Taking clear, accurate notes at board meetings and distributing them to members
- Maintaining official board records including meeting minutes, resolutions, and governing documents
- Tracking action items and following up to ensure accountability between meetings
- Supporting filing and compliance deadlines (in coordination with the Treasurer and Executive Director)
- Keeping the board calendar organized and ensuring members have what they need ahead of each meeting
WHO THIS IS A GOOD FIT FOR
- Someone who is naturally organized and finds satisfaction in things being documented and in order
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing information across multiple threads
- Experience in administrative coordination, project management, or operations — nonprofit background helpful but not required
- Someone who values good governance and understands why the infrastructure of an organization matters
Time commitment: Approximately 10 hours per month. Including monthly in person meetings or events. As a startup-stage organization, some months may ask more — we will always communicate clearly about what's needed.
