    Description

Special Olympics NC - Fundraising Volunteer for Summer Games 2026

    What are the Summer Games?

The Summer Games is the largest state-level event for Special Olympics North Carolina featuring competition in eight different sports. This event is held annually in Raleigh, Cary and the surrounding areas. For 2026, the Summer Games will take place May 29th - May 31st.

Special Olympics athletes are not asked to pay for any of the cost associated with their participation. An event of this size requires a vast amount of resources, including volunteers, meals and monetary contributions.

    A few of the Stats:

Financial support needed for the weekend: More than $200,000

Professionally prepared meals needed for the weekend: More than 8,000

Volunteers needed for the weekend: 1,500

"Are you a born networker? Would you like to work with businesses in the Raleigh area and across North Carolina to secure event sponsors for our Summer Games? Event sponsorships start at $7,000. We're looking to add new sponsors and bring back some sponsors from the past. In addition to our development department and current commitments, we are looking for a little extra help from people in the area who believe in the Special Olympics movement and want to ensure an excellent event for almost 1,500 athletes who will be present at Summer Games.

The ideal candidates will be passionate, personable and detail-oriented. Past experience with Special Olympics is helpful but not necessary. Past fundraising experience is a plus. Ideally, we will grow this committee to a team of 3-5 volunteers to share the work."
