Your companioning presence in the life of others is needed. There are hospice patients/families in our Washington County neighborhoods in need of companionship. Companionship is many things -- listening to stories of a lifetime, sharing in activities of art, music, games, reading favorite books, poetry, or prayer, drinking tea or cocoa by a bright window, holding a hand in sacred silence. Many of our patients live in a senior community setting -- assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing, adult care home -- your volunteer companionship is even more important for those missing the close attention of family. Bring your love of art and crafts, musical talents, and open heart to enhance companionship visits.
Your patient/family assignments will be closest to where you live in Hillsboro, Cornelius, Aloha and all Washington County neighborhoods. Once trained and ready to go, your time of service is about 1-4 hours a week.
The first step is to contact me and meet at your favorite coffee shop where we'll talk about hospice and what volunteering entails. Training is at your pace. Our volunteer training will help deepen your awareness of the healing presence you have available to share with others. Please join our outstanding hospice team for this rewarding work!
Education and support on your mission to make the world better is what you can expect. There are 3 levels of in-person training to complete along with first 2 visits accompanied by your volunteer coordinator. Per federal and state hospice requirements, we follow all CMS/CDC/State guidelines on safety, testing, background/driver checks, and tb test.
