    Description

    Japanese Garden Ambassador

    This versatile position is present for event needs such as interpretation, tours, and programs. The Ambassador role creates a pleasant atmosphere, greets guests, and provides direction and information. Provides additional support for events as needed.

    • Excellent customer service skills
    • Diplomatic and discrete
    • Willingness to learn about the history of the Japanese Garden
    • Able to devote 1- 5 hours per month
    • Ability to build and maintain relationships with college staff and peers
    • Flexibility in alternating between Tour Guide and Garden Host is a plus, but not required

    Knowledge of the Japanese language, Japanese or Japanese American culture, horticulture, or Japanese Gardens is a plus, but not required.

    Enter West Parking lots (Lots 3 and 4) from Collegeview Road (9500-9600 block). On weekdays, you can walk through the hallway linking the Partnership Bldg. and Kopp Student Center. On weekends, when the buildings are closed, you take the paved path around the north end of the Partnership past the picnic area to the garden.

    What interests you about volunteering at the Normandale Japanese Garden? Have you traveled to or lived in Japan or another Asian country? Are you interested in wellness, Asian culture, hospitality, or education? Are you ever available between 9 AM and 4 PM weekdays? Are you comfortable volunteering on weekends when the buildings are closed? Do you have experience with horticulture or gardening? Would you like to help with pruning, raking, or weeding?
