    Description

    Title: Capacity Building & Development Officer

    ZAMSOF is a vibrant civil society platform dedicated to social, economic, and ecological justice. We work to ensure that ordinary citizens and grassroots organizations have the tools and voices needed to participate in national development and environmental decision-making.

    The Opportunity

    ZAMSOF is seeking a skilled Capacity Building & Development Officer to join our Lusaka-based team. The primary purpose of this role is to strengthen the systems and skills of our partners—including CBOs, women’s groups, and youth groups—enabling them to manage natural resources sustainably and govern with transparency.

    Key Areas of Responsibility

    1. Assessment & Planning:

    Initial Phase.

    Conduct training needs assessments with CSOs and local government partners; map local experts and develop an annual capacity building plan aligned with program goals.

    1. Training & Facilitation:

    Implementation.

    Design and deliver workshops on Human Rights, environmental law, climate adaptation, voice and accountability. You must be able to adapt materials for low-literacy audiences.

    1. Technical Mentorship to Host Organisation and Partners Ongoing

    Support.

    Provide host organisation team in resource mobilization, grants writing/proposal writing.

    Provide coaching to partners to develop community action plans. Troubleshoot implementation challenges and link partners to technical resources and funders.

    1. Monitoring & Learning:

    Evaluation.

    Track program outcomes using pre/post-tests and "change stories." Contribute to donor reports and document best practices for internal and external sharing.

    Required Qualifications

      • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Public Administration, Development Studies, or a related Social Science field.
      • Experience: No experience needed but desire to work in capacity building organizational development, or training specifically within the governance or environmental sectors.
      • Technical Knowledge: Advanced ICT skills, governance systems, environmental policy, and resource mobilization for non-profit organisation.
      • Skills: Facilitation skills, research, events management, monitoring and evaluation and report-writing capabilities.

    Position Details

      • Location: Lusaka, Zambia in Southern Africa (Hybrid)
      • Contract: 3- 6-month renewable contract.

    Key Deliverables

    The successful candidate will be expected to produce regular training reports, capacity building budgets, mentorship logs, and adapted toolkits for organisation use.
