Inspecting and sorting food donations for distribution to people in need. Some of the tasks required for this job are:
- Food safety: Volunteers must follow food safety guidelines when handling food. We follow Second Harvest's guidelines for cleaning and food storage.
- Physical ability: Volunteers must be able to lift, carry, and move boxes of food, sometimes up to 50 pounds.
- Flexibility: Volunteers must be able to adapt to changing needs and situations, such as different types of food, varying numbers of guests, and unexpected challenges.
This work directly supports addressing needs of our community neighbors by providing food choices to vulnerable populations. Especially elderly and those impacted by the cut of government benefits.
