    A Faith That Does Justice is an interfaith organization that challenges people to experience God by living their faith intentionally in service to others. We do this by showing how unjust societal structures marginalize people and by acting to help those in need. Our vision is people intentionally living their faith in action.

The Volunteer Director will play an important role in strengthening an organization that depends on compassion, reliability, teamwork, and respect for the dignity of every person served.

    Overview The Director of Finance & Accounting provides financial leadership for A Faith That Does Justice (AFTDJ). This role focuses on oversight, financial reporting, compliance, and strategic guidance rather than day-to-day transaction processing.

    Primary Responsibilities

      • Oversee accuracy and integrity of financial records
      • Review monthly reconciliations and financial statements
      • Prepare and present quarterly financial reports to the Board
      • Lead annual budgeting process
      • Ensure compliance with IRS and Massachusetts requirements (Form 990, Form PC)
      • Oversee audit or financial review process
      • Monitor cash flow and financial sustainability
      • Advise Executive Director and leadership team on financial matters

    Key Skills / Experience

      • Experience in finance, accounting, or financial management
      • Familiarity with nonprofit financial practices preferred
      • Ability to interpret financial statements and communicate insights
      • Comfort working with tools such as QuickBooks and Excel

    Success Profile

      • Strategic thinker who can translate numbers into insights
      • Detail-oriented but not overly focused on transaction-level work
      • Comfortable operating in a volunteer-driven environment
