Summer Camp assistance

We are looking for dedicated and enthusiastic people who would like to assist with our summer camp at our Manassas family shelter. It is from June 22- Aug 5 perfect for college students who are here for the summer.

Please see the job responsibilities below for the summer camp volunteer:

• • Volunteers are responsible for the safety and well-being of the children. This includes ensuring they are properly supervised at all times, adhering to rules and procedures, and enforcing safety regulations.
  • Volunteers help with organizing and leading activities, providing support during various activities, and assisting with the creation of a positive and engaging environment for children.
  • Volunteers serve as role models, offering encouragement and support to the children, helping them build self-esteem, and fostering a sense of belonging.
  • Volunteers observe children's behavior, assess its appropriateness, and apply any necessary behavior management techniques.
  • Volunteers may assist with daily tasks such as setup and cleanup of summer camp areas, preparing for activities, and maintaining a clean and organized environment.
  • Volunteers communicate openly with staff, participate in daily debriefs, and collaborate with staff members to ensure the smooth operation of summer camp.
  • Volunteers may be responsible for identifying and meeting the individual needs of campers, including those with special needs or disabilities.
