Over the past 150 years, more than 90% of San Francisco Bay's wetlands have been destroyed by development. But thanks to Golden Gate Bird Alliance (formerly Golden Gate Audubon) volunteers and others, wetlands are now being restored throughout the Bay Area. And we'd like you to join our team of habitat restoration volunteers! Wear closed-toe shoes. Bring your own gloves if you have or we can provide gloves and tools.
Each year, Golden Gate Bird Alliance organizes wetlands habitat restoration workdays at Pier 94, a former industrial area along San Francisco's southern waterfront. We pick up trash along the Bay shoreline, remove invasive plants, and plant local native plant species that will benefit local and migrating birds and insects, depending on the season.
Upcoming workdays:
First Saturday of each month
