    About Mentor A Promise

    Mentor A Promise (MAP) is a New York City–based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting children and youth experiencing housing instability through mentorship, education, and community-based programming.

    Position Summary

    The PromiseWellness Clubs Coordinator will support the development and implementation of MAP’s wellness initiatives, including Run Club, Bike Club, and Walk Club.

    These initiatives are designed to promote physical health, mental well-being, and community connection through accessible, movement-based programming.

    This role includes coordinating NYC-based activities as well as supporting globally coordinated participation, allowing individuals and communities worldwide to organize and participate in local runs, rides, and walks aligned with MAP’s mission.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Plan and coordinate Run, Bike, and Walk Club sessions in New York City
    • Support the development of a structure for globally coordinated activities, enabling participation across different locations
    • Assist in scheduling, communication, and coordination of meeting points, routes, and logistics
    • Promote an inclusive and welcoming environment for participants of all ages, abilities, and fitness levels
    • Encourage participation in wellness-focused activities that support physical and mental health
    • Collaborate with internal teams to align wellness initiatives with broader program goals
    • Support basic tracking of participation and engagement across all activities
    • Assist with the collection of photos and videos for program visibility and outreach efforts
    • Encourage participants to represent the organization through appropriate branding (e.g., MAP apparel)
    • Promote safe practices across all activities, including awareness of surroundings, adherence to local laws, and use of appropriate safety measures

    Qualifications

    • Interest in wellness, fitness, or community-based programming
    • Strong organizational and communication skills
    • Ability to coordinate activities and engage diverse groups
    • Comfortable supporting in-person activities (NYC) and remote/global coordination
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a mission-driven environment
    • Prior experience in fitness, cycling, walking groups, or event coordination is a plus, but not required

    Commitment

    • Preferred 6 month commitment
    • Weekly or biweekly involvement in coordination and/or activities
    • Flexibility to support both local (NYC) and global participation

    Participants are responsible for their own safety, equipment, and compliance with local laws and regulations when engaging in physical activities.
