    Description

    About Us

Justice for Children is a Houston-based nonprofit dedicated to protecting children from abuse and ensuring their families have access to critical legal and support services. Many of the families we serve are in crisis, with limited financial means and urgent needs. Your help will directly support our mission to protect vulnerable children and advocate for justice on their behalf.

    Overview

Justice for Children is seeking an organized and proactive Court Watch Coordinator to help manage and oversee the agency’s Court Watch program. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the consistent presence of trained volunteers in courtrooms where child abuse cases are heard, helping promote transparency and accountability within the judicial process.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Coordinate Court Watch Volunteers in collaboration with the Chief Operating Officer (COO).
    • Research and monitor news stories related to criminal child abuse cases to identify hearings of interest.
    • Obtain docket and case information from public court records and relevant legal sources.
    • Communicate with volunteers to assign and schedule attendance at corresponding court hearings.
    • Track attendance, collect observations, and maintain organized records of court watch activities.
    • Provide updates and reports to the COO regarding ongoing cases and volunteer engagement.

    Qualifications

    • Strong organizational and communication skills.
    • Ability to manage multiple tasks and coordinate with diverse volunteers and professionals.
    • Professionalism and discretion when handling sensitive or confidential information.
    • Interest in child advocacy, criminal justice, or nonprofit program coordination.
    • Must reside in Harris County, Texas, or surrounding counties.

    Impact

As a Court Watch Coordinator, you will play a central role in ensuring that Justice for Children’s Court Watch program operates smoothly and effectively. Your coordination efforts will help volunteers stay informed and engaged, strengthen community oversight of child abuse proceedings, and further our mission to protect children and promote justice.
