    Description

Fombe Forest Conservation and Ecotourism Initiative

Fombe Forest Conservation Area is a 50-hectare natural forest established in 1999. It contains rich native vegetation and is managed by the Village Natural Resources Committee (VNRC). The forest provides vital resources to nearby communities, including mushrooms and bamboo, supporting local livelihoods.

Chipembere Community Development Organisation (CCDO) is partnering with the local committee to strengthen and expand conservation and restoration efforts in Fombe Forest. Our long-term vision is to increase the conservation area by an additional 50 hectares over the next 20 years through the planting of indigenous trees and sustainable forest management practices.

In addition to tree planting, CCDO plans to introduce ecotourism activities in the forest. This initiative aims to create sustainable income opportunities for local residents while promoting long-term ecosystem protection and environmental education.

To realize this vision, CCDO is seeking experienced volunteers with strong fundraising expertise to support the initiative through:

    • Conducting online and offline fundraising campaigns
    • Developing grant proposals and engaging potential donors
    • Mobilizing resources for tree seedlings and ecotourism infrastructure

Funds raised will directly support tree planting and the establishment of ecotourism facilities in the Fombe Forest area.

Volunteers who wish to visit the project site are warmly welcome. CCDO will assist with visa processing and provide local logistical support.

Together, we can restore and protect Fombe Forest for future generations while empowering communities through sustainable livelihoods.
