    Description

LoopRoots Foundation is seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented volunteer to help us plan, organize, and set up our new food storage and distribution space. This person will help us determine the best placement for shelving, refrigerators, freezers, food-preparation equipment, storage areas, packaging supplies, receiving zones, order staging, and other warehouse equipment so the space is organized, functional, safe, and easy for staff and volunteers to use.

The ideal volunteer has experience with warehouse organization, retail or grocery setup, commercial kitchens, food-service operations, inventory storage, interior space planning, facilities, logistics, or a related area. You do not need to be an architect or designer, but you should be comfortable looking at an open space and helping create an efficient layout.

Responsibilities will include helping plan shelving and storage locations, recommending placement of refrigerators, freezers and appliances, organizing dry goods and food inventory areas, creating efficient receiving and order-pickup workflows, helping designate preparation and packaging areas, recommending labeling and storage systems, assisting with measurements and space planning, and helping coordinate the physical setup of the warehouse.

We are looking for someone who is organized, creative, practical, comfortable working independently, and able to turn an empty or partially completed warehouse into a well-organized operating space.

Experience in warehouse operations, grocery/food service, commercial kitchens, retail merchandising, facilities management, logistics, interior design, space planning, or inventory management is strongly preferred.

    Position Type: Volunteer

Schedule: Flexible; project-based with opportunities for continued involvement

    Location: Phoenix-area onsite

    Organization: LoopRoots Foundation

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys space planning and organization and wants to contribute their skills toward expanding food access and community services.

I’d also add these Indeed search keywords at the bottom of the posting: warehouse design, warehouse organization, space planning, inventory management, facilities, logistics, commercial kitchen, grocery operations, shelving, warehouse setup, food distribution.
