    Description

    Hope and Care Back to School Stars - Community Volunteers

    Description of Duties: Help MEND during the Hope and Care Back to School Stars event to serve hundreds of families who receive backpacks for their children. The event creates an opportunity for fun and mental health education for community families.

    Volunteer Impact: Support MEND’s effort to assist families facing economic challenges by creating and fostering a family friendly back to school event that helps provide students with essential supplies and promoting educational fairness. The event will encourage community engagement, raise awareness about mental health, and ensure that children are ready for the upcoming school year.

    Specific Responsibilities: Assist with the intake of participants receiving the school supplies during the event. Help with the set-up, clean-up, and breakdown of booths. Distribute school supplies, assist with facilitating games. Communicate any important message to the participant as necessary.

    Skills/Experience/Resources/Certifications Needed: Volunteers must be comfortable with physical activity and lifting. Ability to move up to 25 lbs.

    Dress Code: Wear casual/comfortable family- friendly attire and closed toe flat shoes. Shoes must provide safe, secure footing. Shorts may be worn under the following conditions: All shorts must fall at the knee, all shorts must be worn at waist level (no ‘sagging’), made of cotton, jean, or ‘Dickies’ type material (no nylon type or running shorts, bicycle type shorts, yoga shorts).

    Covid-19 Vaccination and Masking: Regardless of vaccination status, masking is optional. MEND will continue to provide masks for TWEX participants.

Volunteers are not eligible for any benefits, including unemployment or workers' compensation.
