    Description

    Far Eastside Neighborhood Tree Planting

Interested in making a positive impact on your community that will last years? Sign-up to join the KIB team to plant 108 native trees and add to the urban tree canopy in the Far Eastside neighborhood! With your help, the trees we plant will bring the benefits of cleaner air, carbon mitigation, and stormwater retention to Indianapolis communities. The tree planting demonstration will begin at 9:05am the latest, please be sure to arrive to find parking ahead of the start time to ensure you learn how to properly plant a tree.

Are you new to planting trees or do you need a refresher? Check out this great video on How to Plant a Tree!

Safety: We highly recommend wearing weather-appropriate clothing and close-toed shoes. We always recommend bringing a reusable water bottle but we will have disposable cups available if needed. KIB will provide tools and gloves.

Parking and Facilities: Parking is available at the Indiana School for the Blind and Visually Impaired (2701 N Devon Ave). If the lot fills up, street parking is also available nearby.

Transportation Information: Click here to plan your trip with IndyGo!

Neighborhood Information: The Far Eastside is a broad and diverse area that grew during Indianapolis’s mid-20th-century expansion. It is known for resilience, cultural diversity, faith communities, and neighborhood connection.

Fun Fact: Before development, much of the Far Eastside was open farmland, and several major roads.
