Description
We are seeking compassionate volunteers to provide support to grieving youth as School Support Group Facilitators.
- Opportunity: have an impact on grieving youth in our state. Make a difference by providing a safe space for students experiencing grief within rural communities where they can connect with peers, share their story, and learn healthy ways to cope. Facilitators help to guide the discussion and lead activities each week.
- Time Commitment: Daytime hours - typically a 30-45 group session 1 time a week for 6 weeks (potential for multiple groups as well).
- Location: Onsite at schools in the Des Moines Metro. Opportunity to also travel to Rural Schools in ATP's service area if of interest.
- Training: specialized training is provided to address loss stemming from death, divorce, abandonment, deportation, and incarceration.
- Stipend available.
- Mileage reimbursement or access to our company van is available.
Group Facilitator volunteers are required to pass our Facilitator Training prior to volunteering. If you are interested in volunteering as a Group Facilitator or would like more information, please email Amanda at afagen@everystep.org
