    Description

Celebrate National Trails Day with the Friends of Mount Vernon Trail, the American Hiking Society, and Potomac Conservancy where will be improving the trail at Lyndon Baines Johnson Memorial Grove on Columbia Island.

Volunteers will help pick up trash and also remove English Ivy from trees along the trail. English Ivy is an invasive species that kills trees by smothering leaves, creating rot and weighing down branches. This also increases the risk that a tree will fall on a trail user.

No special skills are needed in how to remove English Ivy. We'll teach you how to help in just a few minutes.

The event will begin with welcome remarks. Coffee will be provided.
