    Description

Be A Patient Companion Volunteer in San Diego County

If you are looking for a rewarding volunteering opportunity, Pacific Point Hospice is seeking thoughtful, compassionate, and talented individuals to spend quality time with our hospice patients and provide support to their families.

Weekly assignments will vary but we request that you serve as a volunteer for a minimum of 90 days with a 1+ hour per week commitment. Volunteers receive comprehensive training to understand the circumstances of a hospice patient and are equipped with practical and emotional tools to feel confident in providing support and companionship to patients and their loved ones.

We are seeking hospice volunteers all over San Diego County for a variety of opportunities!

    • Patient Companion
    • Pet Therapy
    • Complementary Therapies
    • Veteran Support
    • Administrative Support and Community Outreach

As a Patient Companion Volunteer, you will join a team of highly engaged volunteers and clinical professionals focused on holistically supporting patients and their families.

    Patient Companion volunteers can expect:

    • Interactions with hospice patients who have a variety of life stories and experiences.
    • To make home-based patient visits - wherever the patients call home (private residences and long term care facilities)
    • Opportunities to practice empathetic language and compassionate listening
    • A fascinating education about end-of-life issues and goals
    • To provide practical and emotional support to families and hospice patients
    • To gain new friendships and connections
    • To develop knowledge and understanding that improves their own relationships and lives
