Description
Our church has a center that offers after school programs to children. It is called “Norwalk Life Transformation Center”. The programs offered are individual and group piano lessons, help with homework, reading, arts and crafts, sports ( basketball )and are done during the week. We are looking for volunteers to help in these areas. All materials will be provided. High school students who are looking to complete their community service hours are welcomed.
Volunteer Responsibilities
- Welcome & Check-In
- Greet children and parents
- Sign students in and out
- Verify authorized pickup adults
- Help new families feel welcome
- Answer basic questions
- Homework
- Assist with homework and reading
- Encourage problem-solving without giving answers
- Help students stay focused
- Celebrate effort and progress
- Arts and crafts
- Lead arts and crafts projects
- Organize STEM activities
- Teach games and group activities
- Prepare materials before each session
- Clean up afterward
- Sports
- Lead warm-ups and stretching
- Teach basic sports skills
- Supervise games

Volunteers should:
- Enjoy working with children
- Be dependable and punctual
- Communicate respectfully with children and parents
- Follow program rules and safety procedures
- If 18 and above, complete any required background checks and child safety training according to our organization’s policies and state requirements
