Havenwatch Foundation for Child Protection is seeking volunteer Digital Investigations & OSINT Analysts to support our online safety and child-protection reporting work.
This role focuses on analyzing reports and conducting open-source intelligence (OSINT) on reported points of interest (POIs) to identify publicly available information that can support internal review and lawful handoff to platforms or relevant authorities.
Volunteers do not contact subjects, do not use restricted techniques, and do not act as law enforcement.
What you’ll do
- Analyze submitted reports and associated material for investigative relevance
- Conduct OSINT using publicly accessible sources only
- Identify and document account linkages, platform presence, and observable behavior patterns
- Compile structured findings for Operations and Legal review
- Support lawful reporting and referral workflows when appropriate
This role supports information development, not enforcement or confrontation.
How the role works
- Work is task-based, not hourly
- Tasks are assigned through our internal workspace and scoped clearly
- Volunteers are expected to complete at least one or two tasks or check-in within a 2-week window to keep access active
- If inactive, access may be temporarily paused for security and workflow reasons
- Volunteers can re-check in at any time by informing Operations and resume participation
This structure helps protect sensitive data, maintain case integrity, and avoid burnout.
Required baseline qualifications
- Working knowledge of OSINT fundamentals
- Ability to distinguish evidence from contextual information
- Familiarity with major platforms (e.g. Discord, Instagram, Reddit)
- Strong attention to detail and documentation discipline
Formal law enforcement experience is not required, but this role is not entry-level and assumes basic OSINT competence.
Important notes
- Havenwatch is not a law enforcement agency
- We are currently pursuing formal NGO registration (as of January 2026)
- All volunteers must follow strict legal, ethical, and non-interaction boundaries
