Shella Environmental Youth Group (SEYG) is looking for a Creative Video Editor who can transform raw field footage into high-impact stories. As a grassroots organization in Malindi, we have incredible stories to tell; from the transformation of a widow’s backyard into a thriving kitchen garden to the restoration of our coastal mangrove forests. We need a visual storyteller to help us "show, not just tell" our impact to the world.
Key Responsibilities
- Narrative Editing: Assemble raw video clips captured by our team in the field into professional, emotionally resonant short films (1–3 minutes).
- Impact Showcases: Create "Before and After" videos for our projects.
- Social Media Optimization: Edit "reels" or short-form clips for Instagram and TikTok that highlight our quarterly tree-planting events and youth sensitization workshops.
- Post-Production: Enhance video quality through color grading, sound design (incorporating local music or ambient sounds), and adding subtitles for a global audience.
- Collaboration: Work closely with our Social Media Manager and Branding Lead to ensure all video content is aligned with our organizational voice.
Qualifications
- Experience: 2+ years in video editing, with a portfolio that demonstrates strong narrative flow and pacing.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or similar professional software.
- Storytelling Eye: Ability to take diverse footage; interviews, drone shots, or mobile phone clips and craft a cohesive, inspiring story.
- Mission Alignment: A passion for environmental conservation and social justice. Experience working with NGOs or community-based organizations is a plus.
